Non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) has attracted significant public interest over the past decade. Updated scientific evidence (Lancet, November 25, 2025) indicates that non-celiac gluten sensitivity, affecting approximately 10% of the global population, may in fact be unrelated to gluten and instead linked to the way the gut and brain interact. Redefining current scientific knowledge will help clinicians provide more accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment for patients presenting with symptoms of NCGS. Effective care for people with NCGS should include dietary plans and modifications with psychological support, while ensuring nutritional adequacy and safety.
Key words: Non-celiac gluten sensitivity, Non-celiac wheat sensitivity, celiac disease, gluten-free diet, irritable bowel syndrome, FODMAPs
