One of the most frequently prescribed pharmacological groups in the clinical practice of dermatology are topical antibiotics and corticosteroids. They are prescribed for a number of skin infections and eczema processes both reactively and proactively. The search for an alternative to these drugs is necessary due to limitations related to the characteristics of each patient. The most common restrictions are age – infants and young children, allergies to some antibiotics, cross-hypersensitivity and resistance, need for long-term use, application in delicate skin areas – folds, face, exposed parts, etc. Since ancient times, plant extracts have been used to treat infections and inflammations. In Bulgaria, a traditional place is occupied by Calendula officinalis and Chamomilla recutita extracts, respectively calendula and chamomile. In addition to these extracts, the trace element zinc (Zn) is of significant practical use in infections and inflammations, and in its various compounds – ZnO (zinc oxide), ZnSO4 (zinc sulfate), etc., both for local and systemic use. Due to the mutually potentiating effects of the three ingredients, the combined product GinGira Activ Spray is preferred in clinical dermatological practice. It is a rational combination of the above three ingredients, moisturizers and emollients in a unique spray-cream form. The ability of GinGira Activ Spray to be applied continuously and even continuously makes it applicable to a large number of inflammatory dermatoses.

Key words: infections, inflammation, chamomile, calendula, zinc oxide, GinGira Activ Spray, spray-cream form
