Biofeedback is a therapy based on receiving immediate biological feedback about the physiological parameters reflecting the functioning of patient’s autonomic nervous system, through which he can be trained to control and change them. Parameters recorded include surface electromyography, respiratory rate and depth, skin temperature, cardiovascular reactivity and electrodermal response. This therapeutic approach finds effective application in the field of psychosomatics and functional disorders. In our clinical practice we use it as a concomitant therapy in the treatment of diseases, the course of which can be influenced by mental factors such as various gastrointestinal, cardiorespiratory, neurovegetative and other disturbances.
