Dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) is considered the skin manifestation of celiac disease (CD). The impact of DH on women and their families has not been extensively studied due to its rarity. As a result, there is a lack of research regarding the effects it has on their lives. Women, in particular, tend to experience longer delays in receiving a diagnosis, which can lead to a decrease in their quality of life and an increased risk of long-term complications. Both DH and CD have a shared genetic basis, which has been associated with various reproductive disorders. The primary treatment for DH is a lifelong gluten-free diet (GFD), which places a significant burden on individuals’ lifestyles and finances. Families from lower socioeconomic backgrounds are particularly affected by the demands of adhering to a GFD.
