„Zora“ eye clinic – Sofia
Age-related macular degeneration is one of the leading causes of reduced vision worldwide. The dry form of the disease accounts for 90% of cases. Diet and certain nutritional supplements have been shown to slow the progression of this form, but there is currently no effective treatment for the changes in the macula that have already occurred. A number of new medications are being tested and are showing promising results in the fight against the disease. Telescopic correction and intraocular implants can improve patients‘ quality of life.
