Screening for precancerous lesions of the cervix is extremely important, because early detection and treatment of changes in the cells of the cervix can prevent the development of cancer. This allows treatment to begin at an early stage, when it is more effective and has a better outcome. This leads to the prevention of mortality and an increase in the quality of life.
