Medically assisted reproduction is one of the most significant achievements of the 20th century in the field of women‘s health. By making it possible to treat infertility, it contributes not only to the happiness of families, but also to solving a number of social issues. At the same time, some ethical questions are inexorable in the face of scientific, technical, medical and social advances. Ethical reflection on the use of new techniques presupposes a moment of pause, reflection and discussion. And what is the relationship between psychoanalysis and medicine in this specific field? The article describes the experience in Bulgaria of welcoming babies in maternity and neonatology departments, accompanying families in the „hallway of life“ (Myriam Szejer).
Key words: assisted reproduction, psychoanalysis, ethics, babies and families
