SARS-CoV-2 infection has been found to trigger numerous autoimmune conditions, including immunoglobulin A vasculitis. A woman who had confirmed COVID-19 and three weeks later developed arthralgia and palpabral purpura is presented. Skin biopsy revealed histopathological findings consistent with leukocytoclastic vasculitis. Direct immunofluorescent test established deposition of immunoglobulin A and complement 3 within the walls of superficial dermal vessels. Treatment with systemic corticosteroids was effective and was discontinued with no relapse. SARS-CoV-2 infection could be associated with the etiology of immunoglobulin A vasculitis.
Key words: IgA vasculitis, vasculitis, leukocytoclastic vasculitis, COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2
