The expanding use of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has a significant impact on the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer and its associated sequelae. Numerous publications over the last decade have demonstrated the role of EUS in its ability to diagnose and precisely stage pancreatic neoplasms with the added possibility of therapeutic and palliative interventions. However, current challenges in performing EUS include limited specialist expertise and variability in operator skills. As technologies and techniques continue to develop and improve, various modalities are constantly being upgraded in EUS diagnostics, which make the methodology even more informative in terms of the early detection of pancreatic malignancies.
Key words: endoscopic ultrasound, diagnostics, pancreas, neoplasias
