The possibility of psychological factors to correlate with the process of development of cancer is not a new idea. In recent years, the number of people diagnosed with malignant diseases has been growing rapidly worldwide, and also in Bulgaria. All this largely requires a different approach to knowing and understanding the specific features of the sick person. And it is psychoanalytical psychosomatics that allows this to happen fully and specialists to intervene more effectively.
The purpose of the authors is to emphasize the importance of theoretical training of psychologists working in medical structures, clinical practice and supervision and also to present the work of recently created National centre for psychosomatic therapy of oncology and haematology diseases.
