Angle-closure glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness worldwide. The disease has a familial tendency and is associated with age and hyperopia. Both types of angle-closure glaucoma can cause acute dramatic attacks or chronic asymptomatic disease. A thorough history and eye examination are essential to distinguish primary from secondary forms. Although angle-closure glaucoma in all its forms is a threat to vision, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can stabilize the disease and minimize vision loss.
Key words: angle closure glaucoma, anterior chamber angle, high hyperopia, blindness
