Conjunctivitis is the most common disorder of the ocular surface and a leading cause of visits to primary care physicians and ophthalmologists. Although viral conjunctivitis is the most prevalent form according to the literature, bacterial infections are more likely to prompt patients to seek special care. These infections are often treated empirically with topical antibiotics without prior microbiological confirmation, making the issue of antibiotic resistance particularly relevant.
Кey words: conjunctivitis, bacterial conjunctivitis, antibiotic resistance, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
