Trauma remains the leading cause of mortality and disability among children and adolescents worldwide. Due to the unique anatomical and physiological characteristics of the child, diagnosis and treatment require a specialized approach distinct from adult trauma care.
Modern protocols emphasize non-operative management for solid organ injuries (e.g., liver, spleen) and pulmonary lacerations. Surgical treatment is applied in strictly indicated cases.
Optimizing outcomes depends on exact diagnosis, on rapid transport to designated Emergency Center and requires a multidisciplinary approach that integrates the multimodal treatment, physical recovery with psychological support.
Key words: pediatric trauma, emergency medicine, hypovolemic shock, thorax trauma, abdominal trauma, polytrauma.
