The Free to Total Prostate-Specific Antigen ratio – the benefit for the patient and his doctor

отGP News публикувано на 28.09.2023 Urology and Nephrology

Issue 9/2023

Genadiev, Ts.
“Dr. Guenadiev“ Medical Center – Sofia

Today‘s urology exists and develops in the so-called „prostate-specific antigen era.“ Total prostate-specific antigen is an indicator of a change in the state of the prostate gland. The examination and release of the prostate-specific antigen and the correlation of its value with the total has additional diagnostic and differential diagnostic value between carcinoma and benign hyperplasia of the prostate gland. In our practice, the method was introduced and applied for the first time more than 15 years ago. It can save the patient from unnecessary biopsy and contribute to the doctor‘s good medical practice.
Key words: Free to Total Prostate-Specific Antigen ratio, benefit, patient, physician.
