Tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis syndrome (TINU) is an oculo-renal inflammatory disorder with a presumed autoimmune pathogenesis. It may develop following the intake of certain medications, after infectious diseases or without an overt cause. The uveitis may appear before, simultaneously or after the resolution of nephritis. It is more frequently anterior and nongranulomatous. The therapy of the ocular inflammation is conducted initially with topical, periocular and/or systemic corticosteroids, and with mydriatics. In chronic cases, systemic immunomodulation may be necessary. The visual prognosis is good in the majority of cases.
