Non melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is the most common malignancy in patients with fair skintype and incidence is still rising worldwide. Part of these patients are genetically predisposed. Such genodermatosis can be recognized if in a certain family a NMSC occurs generally more often and in younger patients.
Molecular diagnostics of NMSC through methods like whole exon sequencing (WES) should be routinely used in the dermatological practice. Better understanding of the genetic background, the histology and clinical appearance would contribute to better diagnostics and treatment options in patients with multiple skin tumors.
