Late preterm infants (born 340/7-366/7 weeks) are a unique group among premature infants. Often underestimated due to their size compared to other preterm infants, this group is still vulnerable due to physiological and structural immaturity. Representing almost 75% of all newborns born before 37 weeks of gestation, late preterm infants are at increased risk of diseases affecting almost all organs and systems, as well as higher mortality compared to full-term infants. Neuropsychiatric developmental disorders in these infants are a significant problem. For various reasons, the incidence of late preterm births is increasing worldwide.
