We can easily determine whether our liver is healthy or damaged based on several tests – measurement of waist circumference and body mass index, performing an abdominal ultrasound examination, transient elastography with Fibroscan device or another type of liver elastography to measure the stiffness and fatty infiltration of the liver, laboratory tests including liver enzymes, viral hepatitis markers, metabolic tests. Timely examination of the liver gives us an opportunity to take measures to eliminate the causes that led to damage and carry out treatment that will ensure improvement and possible full recovery of the liver.
