Type 2 diabetes is a socially significant disease, a global problem that also affects our country. Diabetes is among the leading causes of mortality, it disables patients, and worsens their quality of life, especially if they have concomitant diseases. In recent years, there has been a growing interest worldwide in water-soluble vitamins, especially those of group „B“, and their relationship with type 2 diabetes, as they perform very important functions related to the pathogenetic processes that develop in the body of diabetics, and also have a very important role in the prevention of complications of the disease. Over the last decade, particular attention has been paid to the role of „B“ vitamins in the course and control of type 2 аiabetes mellitus (3).The relevance and importance of the topic is determined by the fact that type 2 diabetes mellitus is one of the most significant diseases of the century. It is a risk factor for the development of a number of complicated neuropathies, micro- and macroangiopathies. The aim of this review is to study the role of water-soluble „B“ vitamins in patients with type 2 diabetes, the importance of their levels for
controlling diabetes mellitus and preventing the complications of this socially significant disease. After the study, the following conclusions were reached: in type 2 diabetes mellitus, both carbohydrate metabolism and the metabolism of various microelements and water-soluble vitamins are affected. A large proportion of patients have a deficiency of „B“ vitamins, so it is necessary for these patients to be monitored for such deficiencies and treated in order to improve their quality of life and prevent various complications.

Key words: Type 2 diabetes mellitus, „B“vitamins, Supplementation, Water-soluble vitamins, Prevention.
