Introduction: Laser devices are widely used not only in the professional sphere, but also in our everyday life. The easy access and improper use increased the number of registered cases of this type of eye trauma among children and teenagers. Aim: Discussing the most common types of laser-induced maculopathies, their diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.
Material and methods: All patients underwent a complete ophthalmological examination, including best corrected visual acuity assessment, tonometry, biomicroscopy, ophthalmoscopy, fundus photography, optical coherence tomography (OCT). Database of three clinical cases were collected prospectively.
Conclusion: Laser devices are presented as “high-tech toys” without considering as a potential risk factor for children’s vision. The lack of awareness about their exploitation has led to an increase in cases which again emphasizes the importance of regulation and safety control of these products.
