Chlamydial infections are caused by three human pathogenic species: Chlamydia pneumoniae, Chlamydia psittasi and Chlamydia trachomatis. Clinical forms include respiratory, ocular, and urogenital manifestations. Clinical investigation and timely diagnosis are important for the adequate treatment with an antibiotic as macrolide, tetracycline or fluoroquinolone. Relapses, chronic course or carriage are not rarely found, which necessitates monitoring the titer of specific antibodies.
Key words: chlamydial pneumonia, trachoma, urogenital infection, Reiter‘s syndrome
