Today, prostate-specific antigen is increasingly frequently and easily prescribed, self-prescribed, and tested in our country. The timing of the test is often not specified, which leads to the accumulation of contradictory values. These data are difficult to interpret and do not lead to useful conclusions from the application of the method. The data are interpreted by both medical professionals from different specialties and patients. Some data lead to unnecessary biopsy. This publication aims to present to the reader some postulates regarding the application of prostate-specific antigen. The author shares the conclusions from his practical and scientific, approximately 30 years of consistent experience in the diagnosis and treatment of the prostate gland and, in particular, prostate carcinoma. The publication is devoid of dry statistics with the sole purpose of directing the doctor’s attention to conclusions useful in everyday practice on the issue. For detailed data and evidence, the reader can find a list of the author’s publications in the database of the National Center for Information and Documentation
