The subject of the article are the most common manifestations of mycotic involvement in the genital area of men and women – vulvovaginal candidiasis and candidal balanoposthitis, caused by C. albicans and the rarer types C. glabrata, C. tropicalis, C. pseudotropicalis; C.parapsilosis, C.crusei. The conditions for the occurrence of the infection and the role of the epidemiological factors for its chronicity and relapses are emphasized. The main treatment regimens for acute and chronic cases are considered, as well as some preventive measures.
