Male circumcision has been practiced since ancient times. It was practiced by the ancient Egyptians, the Mayans, the Australian Aborigines, the Incas and various other peoples and tribes. It is still practiced today by Jews, Christians and Muslims. Circumcision is performed due to deep religious beliefs, health reasons, personal preferences, family decisions, cultural significance, etc. It is noteworthy that circumcision performed before puberty reduces the risk of many diseases, including penile cancer. The impact of this procedure in an earlier time affects the whole society, as established by the studies described in the article.
