Atopic dermatitis (AD) is one of the most common inflammatory skin diseases. It affects male and female patients of different age. There are many guidelines about treating AD patients, however, there is few data on treating AD patients during preconception, pregnancy and lactation. The European Task force on Atopic Dermatitis (ETFAD) is one of the few expert groups that has tackled this complicated topic. Safe and effective topical therapy includes emollients, steroids, tacrolimus, antiseptics and some antibiotics. Phototherapy displays a great potential. In contrast, systemic therapy has to be carefully selected.
