Ignatova-Gabrovska, М., Gerasimov, V., Donkina-Krastev, V.
National Center for Psychosomatics – Sofia

Globalization requires in-depth study and new approaches to the relationship between medicine and society. The implementation of psychotherapeutic support in Bulgarian hospitals, consistent with the clinical and therapeutic prescriptions of modern methods in psychoanalysis, psychosomatics, psycho-oncology, psychocardiology, early childhood development and clinical psychology, enables development of trusting relationship with patients. At the same time, it puts Bulgarian healthcare on the map of healthcare systems that consider the illness of a human being not just as economic entities, but adequately respond to their needs. The purpose of the authors is to introduce the audience to the work and empirical experience of the team of the National Center for Psychosomatics aimed at investigating the relationship between psychosomatic diseases and the constructs of mental functioning. The deepening of knowledge in this area could support the treatment and reduce the severity of the course of the disease by developing individualized techniques for psychological work with patients.

Key words: Psychoanalytic sychosomatics, mental functioning, psychoanalysis, scientific research, national center
